Jacobo Hernández
Violin
Jacobo Hernández Enríquez was born in Madrid in 1989. He has a bachelor's degree in violin from the Aragon Music Academy (Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón) in Zaragoza, where he studied with Juan Luis Gallego, Nicolás Chumachenco and the Quiroga String Quartet (2008-2012).
In 2016 he completed his Masters in Musical performance (Minor in Contemporary Music) at the Hochschule für Musik Basel with Barbara Doll and Anton Kernyak.
In January 2019 he received his Master's Degree Performance Practice in Contemporary Music (PPCM) at the University of Art in Graz, tutored by Klangforum Wien.
Jacobo has worked with Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Modern, ÖENM (Austrian Ensemble for New Music), PHACE Ensemble, Schallfeld Ensemble, the Ensemble Linea and ULYSSES Ensemble. He has participated in the following festivals: Klangspuren Schwaz (Innsbruck), ManiFeste IRCAM (Paris), Gaudeamus (Utrecht), Darmstadt International Summer Courses for New Music (Germany), Traiettorie (Italy), Musiikin Aika-Time of Music (Finland), IMPULS (Graz), Foundation Royaumont (Paris), Snape Maltings Britten-Pears, Basel time periods – Biennale for new music and Architecture (Basel).
In 2015 he received a scholarship (Contemporary Ensemble Fellowship) for the Atlantic Music Festival (Maine, USA) and he played violin in the AMF Ensembles in residence at the festival. From 2012-2016 Jacobo was a member of the National Spanish Youth Symphony Orchestra (J.O.N.D.E. Joven Orquesta Nacional de España) and received meanwhile the JONDE-Fundación BBVA scholarship for foreign education in Contemporary Music Practice.
In 2017 he was invited to the IMPULS Festival as a ULYSSES Network musician, and played there as a soloist "Concertino" by F. Cerha for violin, accordion and ensemble, with accordionist Ghenadie Rotari and with Ernst Kovacic as conductor.
